Winning the lottery is just the beginning

Does She or Doesn’t She? Maryland Woman Claims to Have One of the Three Mega Millions Tickets (Worth More than $200 Million). Now Says She has “Misplaced” it. Hmmmm

I knew something like this was bound to happen.

From a report in the New York Post, a Maryland woman who works at a Baltimore-area McDonald’s said she has one of three winning Mega Millions lottery tickets after the big $640 million Mar. 30 drawing.

According to the Post, Mirlande Wilson, 37, bought the winning ticket in Baltimore County.

Wilson had gone in on a pool of lottery tickets with her fast-food co-workers but claims she bought some tickets separately, and one of these separate tickets has the winning numbers, according to the Post.

Fifteen McDonald’s employees chipped in $5 each for the Mega Millions pool, and Wilson bought the tickets and reportedly put them in the safe at the restaurant.

Last Friday, the owner gave Wilson another $5 for more tickets for the employee pool. That time, she also bought a couple of tickets for herself, including the “winner.”

Wilson refused to show her “winning ticket” but said she would visit the Maryland lottery office Monday to cash in.

So far, she hasn’t done that.

In fact, on Friday the 6th of April, she told news reporters that she has “misplaced” the ticket.

So…we’ll see. Because you can only claim your prize if you have a winning ticket. Just saying you do ain’t quite enough.

Meanwhile, the owner of the McDonald’s franchise, Birul Desai, said in a statement that the report was purely speculation and cautioned Read more

North Carolina Player Takes it to the “Max,” Scratches $1 Million Top Prize

Perry Greene, a resident of Lawndale in Cleveland County, North Carolina, plans to pay bills with the $1 million prize he scratched off on his Maximum Green ticket.

Geez, I hope he does more than “just” pay bills with his million. But I digress…

“I felt like my blood pressure went directly to my feet,” Greene said. “I have been playing since the lottery launched, so I guess it was just my time. As of tomorrow, I will be completely out of debt. This feels wonderful.”

Not an April Fool’s Day Joke: Hey, You Just Won $250,000

Maryland Lottery player Ronald Ruse went to sleep last week (the night of the $656 million Mega Millions draw) without realizing how different his life would be when he woke up the next morning.

Earlier that day, he purchased $50 worth of tickets for the record-breaking Mega Millions drawing during his lunch break from work.

The next morning, he checked to see if he matched the Mega Ball on any of his purchases.  A little disappointed after realizing he did not match the Mega Ball on a single ticket, he threw away the paper with the winning numbers and decided to check his tickets the next time he went to the store.

That afternoon, before heading out of town, he stopped at the Lottery retailer and scanned his tickets.  After noticing he had a winner, he asked the clerk to cash it.

“The clerk told me the amount was too large to cash there,” the 25-year-old said.  “My friends and I Read more

Minnesota Family is “Hot” Winner of $2.9 Million

Three members of a North Mankato, Minnesota, family have stepped forward to claim the $2.99 million Hot Lotto jackpot from the March 14, 2012 drawing.

Thomas H. Browne, his son Lee Browne and his daughter Elaine Pleiss are the winners.

Thomas said he heard an announcement on the radio that the winning Hot Lotto jackpot ticket for March 14 was sold in Nicollet County.

He checked his quick-pick ticket and discovered it matched the winning numbers of 1-6-13-25-27 and the Hot Ball of 15 to win the $2.99 million jackpot. “Don’t ask me how many times I checked it!” Thomas said of the winning ticket.

Lee heard the same radio broadcast and thought, “I wonder if it’s Dad.” He learned later that his father did indeed win the jackpot when Thomas stood in Lee’s garage and asked him, “Is your truck paid off?” Lee said Read more

In Case You Are Just Waking Up: Mega Millions Jackpot of $640 Million Will Be Shared by Three Ticket Holders, in Illinois, Kansas, and Maryland

The results are in.

Three tickets (so far) have matched the Mega Millions numbers drawn on Mar. 30, and those tickets were sold in Maryland, Illinois and Kansas.

This is not to say that more winning tickets might not exist in other states.

As of this writing, some states have not yet reported on their results.

Mega Millions is played in 42 jurisdictions.

And so this run is finally over, as I knew it would be.

The amount of betting had been so high that it was inevitable that all possible combination of numbers would have been exhausted.

But it sure was fun watching the jackpot soar.

It will be interesting to see how much money was bet overall and how much money each Mega Millions state (or jurisdiction) made.

So… if you did not win, count me among you.

Take heart, players. Powerball is worth $60 million on Mar. 31.

And I’ll be playing.

Er … Make That a $500,000,000 (or, Half a Billion) Mega Millions Jackpot Up for Grabs

Ok…a few days ago, the Mega Millions jackpot was set at $476 million.

Now, officials have upped the jackpot (as if people needed more motivation) to an astounding $500 million.

Either way, the top prize will be the biggest Mega Millions jackpot in the multi-state lottery’s history and also the biggest lottery in U.S. history.

The jackpot has grown so large because no lottery players in any state have matched all six numbers since Jan. 24, and ticket sales have been brisk.

The jackpot reached $363 million — the third largest in Mega Millions history — for Tuesday night’s drawing, but there were no top-prize winners.

The numbers were: 9, 19, 34, 44 and 51. The Mega Ball selected was 24, and the “Megaplier” was 3 for lottery players who plucked down an extra dollar for a shot at bigger prizes.

The cash option for Friday night’s drawing is valued at $359.4 million before income taxes are deducted.

$476 Million in Play This March 30 in U.S.A.’s Mega Millions Game (That’s Right, Nearly Half-a-BILLION Dollars)

Amazing. Just amazing.

We (who play the lottery) are living an historic moment: the biggest jackpot in the game’s history … in the U.S.A. at least…will be $476 million (or higher) up for grabs Friday, March 30, 11 p.m. E.S.T.

The winning numbers for the $356 million (not too shabby), which was the third-largest prize in the game’s history, were 9, 19, 34, 44, 51 and Mega Ball 24, but they did not produce a winner, officials said.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot were estimated at about 1 in 176 million.

The largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won was $390 million in March 2007.

The winner is selected through five balls drawn from a set of balls numbered one through 56, and one ball is drawn from a set numbered one through 46.

While there are nine ways to win a prize, starting from $2, ticket buyers across the country have their eyes on the $356 million jackpot, which has been growing since Jan. 24.

The odds of winning any of the Mega Millions prizes are approximately 1 in 40.

So get ready for LOTTERY FEVER in this country, and around the world.

Get ready for lottery talk on the TV and radio.

Get ready for people who’ve never played the game before, playing it on Mar. 30.

It’s gonna be wild.

And by Mar. 30, officials are saying there may be a readjustment of the top prize to about half a BILLION dollars.

I know I’ll be playing.

UK Bus Drivers Speed Away with Euro Millions Jackpot Worth £38 Million

The EuroMillions jackpot on March 16 was won by a pool of 12 bus drivers from Corby in Northamptonshire, UK.

The syndicate is led by Chris Smith and has been buying tickets as a collective for three years. Because the group only plays the EuroMillions game on Fridays and each member pays for just one ticket each, the outlay per member is only £2 a week.

That means each member has invested little over £300 since the syndicate began and has now won a personal share of the £38 million jackpot worth £3.16 million!

“We started the syndicate about three years ago and everyone chose a set of numbers – it’s only £2 each in the pot every week,” Chris explained. “I always try to watch the draw show live, or record it, and check off all of our numbers.

On Friday my partner checked half our numbers and I checked the other half – she just passed the winning ticket over and paused the TV on the numbers. We kept looking at it and passing it between each other about four or five times. We couldn’t really believe that they all matched!”

Chris then called another syndicate member who visited his house to check the ticket personally. Other calls were then made and more syndicate members decided to visit so that they too could see the winning ticket for themselves.

When the group realised that the ticket really had won the EuroMillions jackpot, and that there was just one winning ticket, they called the lottery operator to make their claim. Then the call from the operator was returned and the win was confirmed. “There was a lot of hugging, shaking hands and quite a few tears,” Chris said.

The syndicate members are now thinking about how to spend their millions, and for everyone concerned family is coming first, with helping children and relatives taking priority over new cars and dream holidays.

“Times have been very tough for everyone,” Chris said. “This win means so much and is life-changing Read more

Wow! Mega Millions Jackpot of $363,000,000 is in the Stratosphere

Spurred by a mega-exciting jackpot, Mega Millions sales have outpaced the forecast of Mega Millions officials.

So those officials have increased the estimated jackpot for the Tuesday, March 27, drawing from $356 million to $363 million.

The estimated jackpot is based on sales up to the time of the drawing.  So the adjusted jackpot is an indication that Mega Millions players from coast to coast are feeling the excitement.

In the most recent drawing, in which there was no jackpot winner, nearly 2.9 million tickets won Mega Millions prizes.

This jackpot has been growing since January 24, when Mega Millions had its most recent jackpot winner. The odds of winning the jackpot are approximately one in 176 million.

The odds of winning any of the Mega Millions prizes are approximately 1 in 40.

To everyone who reads this…and I know there are thousands who do…let me make this offer. Want a little fame?

I am gearing  up for my third book, this one, an ebook and I’ll sell it cheap so that everyone can get one.

I want YOU to be a part of it.

I get lots of emails from people who play their own winning systems.  I think people would love to know about all the systems out there… I’ll give you credit and include it in a chapter called…”The People’s Play” or something like that.

OK?

Good luck tonight.

I play individually and in a pool, by the way.
