In West Virginia, Laid-Off Miner Wins $50,000; See? Good Things CAN Happen to Good People
Keith Keiffer, 29, a laid-off Nicholas County, West Virginia miner with three children, has won $50,000 playing the Lottery’s instant game Platinum Payout.
These guys have a tough enough life. And this man (with a family) was laid off. Remember, this is a mine where there once was a disaster, right?
The Calvin resident said he bought his winning ticket from Sunny Spot Sunoco in Lookout, W.V., only to get sticker shock at the pump.
“I bought the ticket when I pre-paid, so was scratching it off while I was pumping the gas . . . I looked and scratched and looked and scratched, and about that time I quit pumping gas to go back inside to ask them to tell me I wasn’t looking at it wrong.”
Keiffer said his children have wanted a beach trip that he couldn’t afford until now. “In addition, I’ll probably be able to pay off our home. This just couldn’t have come at a better time.”
Good story.
If you know of any similar kind of feel good lottery stories let me know and I’ll look into them.
By the way, in case you didn’t know, someone bought a ticket in West Virginia worth $80,000,000. That’s $80 million.
The Mega Millions jackpot on Aug. 24 is now up to $115 million.
Good luck, everyone.
