Kisses, Flowers and a Winning $100,000 Missouri Lottery Ticket; How’s that for Heating Up a Marriage?

When is the last time you ever bought your wife flowers?

Good reaction, huh?

Now imagine this: Not only did David Thiele of BransonMissouri, surprise his wife with a bouquet of fresh flowers on Aug. 9, but he also gave her something extra – a $100,000 winning Missouri Lottery Scratchers ticket.

With a laugh, Thiele, 46, said the gesture “almost gave her (wife) a heart attack.”

I can understand her surprise, though.

“I handed her the flowers, and she said, ’Oh, they’re pretty cute,’ and then I showed her the ticket, and she didn’t understand what it was at first,” he recalled. “Once she read the fourth line down, she sort of freaked out. Her jaw pretty much dropped to the ground!”

Days earlier, Thiele was on his way to work when he stopped at QuikTrip, in Springfield. He thought the Missouri Lottery “Casino Cash” Scratchers ticket “looked like one that would be all right to play,” so he tried his luck.

And how.

Thiele, a mechanic, was “sitting outside of work, getting ready to go in,” when he uncovered the top prize.

“I didn’t believe it was (a winner) for awhile,” he said. “I had to keep looking at it to make sure it was actually saying $100,000.”

After checking the ticket three or four times, the father of four went on with his workday, while keeping the ticket “under lock and key the whole time.”

As for how he will spend the windfall, he plans to “get completely out of debt.”

Smart move.
