Winning the lottery is just the beginning

Texas Department of Transportation Workers Drive Away with $250,000 Mega Millions Money

Ya hoo, dudes.

This is what lottery pools are all about.

Seven friends, all of whom work at the Texas DOT (in Early, Texas) won $250,000 playing Mega Millions, when they matched 5 of 6 numbers on Mar. 23.

Spokesperson Micah Shaw said he, Larry Skaggs, Jay Green, Brad Swenson, John Finnlay, Margie Poe and Mark Hale pooled $4 a week and whenever he’s in town, he’ll pick up the tickets.

He said he and the six other winners are more than just co-workers who happened to put money in for a ticket. They are buds. “We hang around together after work,” he said. “It’s just our little group.”

Shaw said the group of friends all work in different departments at TxDOT, so the news of the winnings filtered through several people before everyone found out — and the congratulations have yet to stop.

Soon, they will pass out checks. Each person will receive around $26,000.

So…are YOU in a pool where you work?

And why not?
