Winning the lottery is just the beginning

Virginia Teacher Moves to the Head of the Class, Wins Twice X $100,000

Jean Rodriguez of Virginia Beach won twice in the same Virginia Cash 5 drawing.

How did she do it?

The same five numbers were on two tickets she had purchased; she won $100,000 on each ticket when her numbers matched the five numbers that were drawn.

She redeemed the first ticket shortly after that November 14, 2009, day drawing.

She held on to the second ticket for four months. Finally, on March 18, she presented it to Virginia Lottery officials to collect another $100,000 top prize.

“The first one took care of bills,” she told Lottery officials. “This second one is for fun – or a rainy day!”

She bought both winning tickets at Kroger, a supermarket,  in Virginia Beach. The winning numbers were 7-10-13-17-23. She used Easy Pick and let the computer randomly select the numbers on her ticket.

For this win, she moves to the head of the class in my book.

Hey, teach?

Powerball jackpot if $60,000 on Mar. 27.

Good luck everyone.
