Kansas and K-State May Have Not Won the NCAA Basketball Tournament, But They Sure Can be Proud of These Winners
According to Chris Jorn, he likes to play Powerball when the jackpot reaches at least $75 million. Since the Powerball jackpot for a recent Saturday night’s drawing was up to $95 million, he decided to purchase a $5 Quick Pick ticket.
Later that night while on the Lottery’s website, the Derby, Kansas resident discovered he’d matched the first five numbers, winning a $200,000 cash prize!
“We literally missed the jackpot by one number,” said Jorn. Jorn matched all the winning numbers in the Feb. 27 drawing except the Powerball.
“We’re still very excited about winning,” said Jorn. “We’ve never won more than $100 playing Powerball. Now we can become debt free and save for our children’s college educations.
The Jorns, who have two children ages 14 and 12 will continue to play. “You never know, we might get lucky again,” laughed Jorn. The winning ticket was purchased at QuikTrip 363, located at 2801 N. Rock Rd. in Derby.
