Winning the lottery is just the beginning

Virginia Lottery Player Goes “All In”; Plays Pick 4 Game 20 Times, Wins $100,000

I know a lot of you reading this  think this story is nuts, but as someone who has written about lottery players for 10 years, I have run across similar stories.

Five years ago, in Washington D.C., I talked with someone who played a Pick4 number and also won $100,000. So it happens.

Now, to the story of the day: “I just had a feeling about that particular number,” said Douglas Holland of Fayetteville, North Carolina.

That particular number was 3851. He played that number 20 times in the December 3 Pick 4 night drawing and won. Since the top prize for each exact order wager in Pick 4 is $5,000, his total winnings for those 20 tickets came to $100,000.

He bought all of the tickets at Kroger, located in Martinsville, Virginia.

“It feels great,” he told Virginia Lottery officials as he claimed his prize. “It will feel even better when I go to the bank.”

Holland works as a mail carrier for the Postal Service. He said he intends to use his winnings to pay bills and maybe buy a new car.

GAMES WE PLAY:

There was no jackpot winner in the Dec. 16 Powerball game so the jackpot rises to $92 million on Dec. 19.

The Mega Millions jackpot has skyrocketed to $140 million. Next draw is Dec. 18.

The Euro Millions jackpot is also huge, at 59 million Euros, or about $83 million USD.

Good luck everyone.

STOCKING STUFFER BOOK:

In my  book, available by clicking on the cover to your right…or just by going to amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com is filled with stories like the one above, but even crazier stuff.

It’s about big winners, odd stories… history of the lottery… strategies, lotteries as portrayed in the movies and much much more.

I wanted it to be entertaining.

It is not a book for gamblers. It’s for the whole family, folks.

It is for people who love playing the lottery.
