Mega Millions Jackpot Keeps Getting Higher, Now at $252 Million; Two Winning Euro Millions Tickets Each Win 37.6 Million Euros

Somewhere in Europe there are two very happy Euro Millions ticket holders, each ticket worth 37.6 million euros.

But in the U.S., the Mega Millions jackpot has exploded to $252 million.

The Aug. 21 Mega Millions jackpot draw did not produce a big winner so the top prize rolls to $252 million.

The winning Aug. 21 numbers are 9,38,44,48,49 and the Mega number is 13.

24 of tickets hit 5 of 6. All of these tickets except California (which distributes money differently) tickets are worth $250,000 each. Those tickets were bought in California (4 tickets, each worth $140,420), Georgia (3), Michgan (2), New Jersey (6), New York (3), Ohio (2), Texas (2) and Virginia (2).

In Europe, the winning Aug. 21 Euro Millions numbers are 4,7,16,31,42 and the two lucky stars are 3,5.

The next Euro Millions game carries a 15 million ($21 million, in U.S. dollars) jackpot. That game is on Aug. 28.

The Powerball jackpot on Aug. 22 is $20 million. No one has yet come forward in South Carolina (where the winning ticket was bought) to claim the $259 million jackpot. We’ll talk to them when they do come forward and then report back to you.
