Florida Woman Has a “Spectacular” Moment, Wins $1,000,000

Mercedes Marriot, 56, of Orlando, Fla., had the kind of experience I’ll bet all of us would like to have.
You play your favorite scratch game. You begin to scratch. And scratch. And you see you’ve won a little. A few zeros after the one. Then, more zeros. And suddenly, you are a millionaire.
That’s my affirmation. It will happen to me.
Well, it happend to Mercedes and she claimed her money on June 17.
Marriot chose the one-time lump sum payment option for her winnings. That came to $688,606.50.
Marriot first thought she had won a $1,000 prize.
“When theclerk told me I was a $1,000,000 winner, I couldn’t believe it. I’m still in shock.”
The $10 scratch-off game, “$200 Million Spectacular,” was launched in Dec. 2008. If you happen to live in Florida (or are going there soon), officials tell me that 15 of the 20 $1,000,000 prizes remain.
Now THIS is great gaming news! What do I do now?
