Luck Runs in this Family: Georgia Husband Hits Scratch Game $5,000 Prize; One Week Later, Wife Wins $1 Million

A Georgia couple has won big time jackpots in consecutive weeks, proving (I guess) that luck does run in families.

One week after her husband, Chuck, netted a $5,000 lottery win, Karen Hill plucked her own $1 million prize playing the Georgia Lottery instant game, World Class Millionaire.

After she scratched, Hill said, “We thought we were dreaming. I still don’t believe it.”

Hill bought her ticket at City Chevron in Villa Rica, Georgia, while on the way to work. She scratched it in her office.

“I was feeling lucky,” she said. “I looked at it several times and sent a picture text of the ticket to my husband.”

The couple, who as two young kids, is ecstatic. “This is very cool,” said Chuck Hill.

One week earlier, Chuck claimed a $5,000 prize from the Lottery’s Weekly WinFall limited-time game. He is now eligible for the $1 million bonus drawing at the end of the game.

Who knows? Lightning could strike twice.
