Florida Second Chance Winner Opts for Cash over a New Mustang

I love second-chance drawings. Most people don’t realize how good your odds are (compared to regular games) when you play.

You scratch a game ticket, you are a non-winner, then you send in the card for a drawing.

Guarantee you, not as many people send in their non winning tickets as buy the card (and lose). People just don’t want to be bothered.

Recently, The Florida Lottery announced that the grand prize winner in the first “Over a Billion Reasons to Play” Second Chance drawing has claimed his prize at the Florida Lottery Tampa District Office.

As a grand prize winner, Stephen Freauf, 37, of Seminole, had the choice of a 2010 Ford Mustang convertible or the cash-option value of the car, $38,000.

Freauf chose the cash prize.

Freauf said he was encouraged to enter the drawing after purchasing five BILLION DOLLAR BLOCKBUSTER tickets. Freauf discovered he had the winning ticket when a friend called to inform him. “I was shocked and sure my friend was playing a joke on me,” he said. Freauf was in disbelief until he checked the Lottery Web site and saw for himself.

This particular series of second chance drawings ended May 11. It was a pretty good deal. In each drawing, players had the chance to win the grand prize of a 2010 Ford Mustang or one of 5,000 second prizes of $50 in Lottery coupons.

My advice then, is to watch for second chance drawing opportunities. You might not win the big prize, but there is a lot of stuff out there that is up for grabs. So, why not you?
