South Dakota Player Wins $222 Million Powerball Jackpot

Someone in South Dakota is an extremely lucky person.

One ticket holder in that state picked all six numbers correctly in the May 27 Powerball game and has won $222 million. The winning numbers are 5,6,12,16,21 and Power ball 7.

The Power Play multiplier is 3.

I think I won $9. Oh well.

Big hurrah to the second tier winners as well. Those tickets were bought in Arizona ($1 million, because the ticket was Power Played), Colorado ($200,000), 2 in Connecticut (both $1 million because the tickets were Power Played), 3 in Florida (each $200,000), Indiana ($200,000), Kentucky ($1 million), Minnesota ($200,000), North Carolina ($200,000), 3 in Pennsylvania (each $200,000), South Carolina ($200,000) and Wisconsin ($200,000).

Congratulations.

In Georgia, meanwhile, I’ve been seeing many big winners so I wanted to share the story of just one of them.

An AVON independent sales representative believes that winning the lottery is beautiful.

Linda “Kay” Carter, 54, won a $250,000 second prize from matching the first five winning numbers in the May 12 Mega Millions drawing.

“I felt that at some point I would win,” she said. “I felt it in my heart.”

Linda, that’s called the power of positive thinking.

The winning numbers from the May 12 Mega Millions drawing were: 4-8-10-14-51 and the Mega Ball was 31. Money Back in West Point, sold the winning Quik Pick ticket.

The grandmother of her “sensational six” grandchildren was in disbelief when she realized that she won after checking her numbers on the Georgia Lottery Web site.

“It still seems so unreal to me,” said Carter, a resident of Hazel Green, Ala.

With her lottery win, Carter plans to buy her husband, Alton, a new car, purchase new eyeglasses for herself and get a manicure.

“I’m very excited about that,” she exclaimed.
