Virginia Truck Driver’s Haul is Mega Millions $250,000 Prize

It’s my dream (I play Powerball) to be watching the draw where I win the jackpot. I believe it will happen because I believe in the power of positive thinking.

So does Lester Gordon, a truck driver who lives in Virginia.

Gordon of Glen Allen was watching the Mega Millions drawing on Dec. 12 when he saw something unexpected, but welcome: his numbers!

“I looked at it and I thought, ‘Uh oh, something isn’t right here,’” he later told Virginia Lottery officials.

Gordon’s ticket matched the first five numbers but not the Mega ball, which meant his ticket was worth a very cool $250,000.

This made his Christmas even more special than it usually is, he said.

The winning numbers for that drawing were 10-16-19-27-48 and the Mega Ball Number was 25. Gordon’s ticket was one of 23 nationwide that won the game’s second-largest prize in the drawing, and the only one in Virginia.

Gordon said he hopes to retire within two years. The Mega Millions winnings will help.

Tonight’s Mega Million drawing, by the way, carries with it a $37 million jackpot.
On New Year’s Eve, the Powerball draw is worth $80 million.
And on Friday night, the Euro Millions draw has risen to 37 million Euros, or about $52 million, U.S.
