Winning the lottery is just the beginning

Kentucky Woman Wins $760,000 Playing 3-Line Lotto Game

a Louisville woman is $760,000 richer after winning 3 Line Lotto jackpot .

In Kentucky, there is a game where players pick six numbers, 1-39… and get quick picks, all for $2 a play. If you match all six numbers on one line, you win the jackpot.

That’s what Karla Clayton, 56, did. She found out early Saturday morning, Nov. 15, that she was $760,000 richer. She matched all six numbers in the same line on her 3 Line Lotto ticket from the Friday, November 14 th drawing.

The winning numbers were 1-21-26-28-33-39.

That morning, before she confirmed the the numbers with the Kentucky Lottery, her husband had already gone out deer hunting.  “I wrote the numbers down and then checked my tickets. After I saw the numbers matched, I started shaking and called my husband right away,” Karla told lottery officials.

“I think I’ve won $700,000,” she told her husband. Not sure of the prize amount, she called back to see how much the jackpot was worth.

She then called her husband back to let him know it was worth $760,000. “He was so nervous,” she said.

Well, duh. Wouldn’t you be? Nervous and deliriously happy?

Karla matched numbers in two other lines on her ticket therefore making her total winnings $760,200. After taxes, she received a check for $524,538.

“This is unbelievable,” Karla said. “You always see other people doing it, just didn’t think it would ever happen to me.”

Karla works for the Jefferson County Public School system and has two children. She plans to use her winnings to update her house, put in a concrete driveway and save for retirement.

The November 14 th drawing produced the game’s largest jackpot since the game began sales on April 15, 2007.
