Pennsylvania Power Couple Steps Forward, Winner of $30.2 Million

December 1st, 2008 · No Comments · Basics, European, Lottery, Picking Numbers, Stories

Congratulations to a York, Pennsylvania couple for winning the Oct. 29 Powerball jackpot worth $30.2 million.

Myrna and Thomas Shearer had the single-winning jackpot ticket that matched all five white balls, 20-30-37-50-52, and the red Powerball, 33, to win the jackpot, which grew over seven drawings to an annuity value of $58.6 million.

Wisely, the couple chose the $30,207,012.05 cash prize option, less 25 percent federal withholding.

Myrna Shearer had been playing her own Powerball numbers, but realized she forgot to take the list with her when she went to purchase her tickets for the Oct. 29 drawing.

While the winning jackpot ticket was a quick pick, four of her five regularly played numbers were drawn Oct. 29.

This is the third jackpot-winning Powerball ticket sold in Pennsylvania in the past two months and the second jackpot-winning Powerball ticket sold in Pennsylvania in October.

Amazingly enough, on Oct. 4, 22 postal workers from Delaware County won a $10.2 million Powerball jackpot.

By the numbers:

Tonight is the night for the $128 million Mega Millions game. To everyone around the world playing, good luck. And I hope yesterday’s blog, of hot and cold numbers inspired a few of you. Let me know if you win big money playing hot or cold numbers.

Again, good luck everyone.
