Idaho Lottery Player on a Winning Streak
Some people have all the luck.
A cliche, I know. But having been in the lottery business for going on 9 years now, it does seem that some people win an inordinate amount of times. I’m not talking about people who play all the time, who bet well beyond their means.
It is true that by the law of averages, the more you play, the more you are likely to win.
But I’ve met some lucky people who don’t play often and still win.
Go figure.
Anyone out there know someone like this? A friend who plays and wins a lot? Write me and let us all know.
Meanwhile, Dan Polla, an Idaho Lottery player won his second top prize from the Idaho Lottery in the last four months when he claimed $100,000 recently at the Lottery headquarters in Boise.
“I couldn’t believe it,” said Polla, the soft-spoken owner of a convenience store in Mullan, Idaho.
“When I won, I started shaking. It didn’t seem real until I actually picked up the check.”
Polla purchased his Wild 10’s $100,000 winning ticket on Saturday, September 27th. Business in the store picked up shortly after his purchase, so he slipped the ticket into his back pocket and forgot it was there for two days.
On Monday evening, he discovered the ticket and scratched it, but couldn’t believe his eyes that he had won $100,000.
Being a regular Lottery player, Polla knew enough to quickly sign the back of his ticket. Still doubting it was a jackpot winner he again slipped it into his back pocket for another three days, just to keep it safe. Polla finally decided to confirm the ticket was winner by scanning it in the Lottery terminal. Once the terminal confirmed it was the winner, Polla kept the ticket in his back pocket for another two days before finally telling his wife Tammy that he had won another jackpot.
Polla is certainly one of the luckiest men in northern Idaho when it comes to playing the Lottery. In 2004, he won $1,500 in a second-chance draw for the Lottery’s 15th Anniversary Scratch Game, and then won $15,000 during the live Game Show at the Northern Idaho Fair in Coeur d’Alene. On June 5, 2008, Polla won $50,000 playing another ScratchTM game from the Idaho Lottery, Megaslots
Their immediate plans for their $67,200 after State and Federal taxes, the Polla’s plan to pay off some bills, save a good portion of their winnings, and take their 10-year-old son to Disneyland for spring break.
Gotta love him.
And wish him luck.
By the Numbers:
Tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot is worth $62 million.
Saturday’s Powerball is worth $42 million.
I wish every one of you the best of luck.
