U.K. Winner Hides Multi-Million Euro-Winning Ticket in Her Bra

Strange and wonderful lottery winners stories don’t always happen in the U.S. Lotteries, of course, are played all over the world. One of the most popular (for all of you who live in the U.S.) is EuroMillions, a multi-country lottery similar to our Powerball.

The other day I ran across a highly amusing story in U.K.’s Independent newspaper. It’s about a teenager whose lottery win turned her into a millionaire.

Her name is Ianthe Fullagar, 18, from Ravenglass, Cumbria, and she won more than seven million Euros. She played because the jackpot was 100 million Euros. It was only the second time she had ever played EuroMillions. According to the paper, when she realized she won, she screamed so loudly, “it alarmed her dog, who bit her on the bottom.”

“At first I thought I had matched three numbers, so I couldn’t believe it when I realised I had the five main numbers plus one Lucky Star,” she told a reporter from the Independent.

Her mother then called the National Lottery line. That’s when she realized she had won a share of the big jackpot. Both mother and daughter screamed. It upset the dog. And, well, you know what happened next.

Where did she hide the ticket? “In my bra and jewelery box. Then, in her gym bag.

Fullagar, who is starts school  towards a law degree in 2009, said she would treat herself to a holiday in Egypt and buy a black Ford Ka, which will set her back about 10,000.

She will share the remainder with family and friends.

She hopes to run her own law practice.

Back on this side of the pond:

Tuesday night’s Mega Millions is worth $51 million, in U.S. dollars.

Good luck everyone.
